Everyone is confused by the budget process. In too many cases an annual budget is prepared in a rush, put in a drawer and not reviewed until year-end. What good is a static budget that doesn’t tie into your cash flows and doesn’t allow management to review performance and manage the future?
• Understand a 12-month, rolling cash flow budget and take home an Excel template for one.
• Know where to secure and find budget data on your 990, audits, and financial statements.
• Leave with a financial statement cheat sheet to use at board meetings so you know what is going on!
• Gain a clear understanding of how a not-for-profit can have a profit (surplus).
