I. Loosening the Purse Strings: Building and Cultivating Your Donor Base

Nurturing donor relationships is often compared to dating. How do you go from the first date to marriage? Many nonprofits spend a lot of resources to attract potential supporters. Is that the best use of your limited resources? Learn specific strategies to help you not only engage but also strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors.

Sandra Toussaint-Burgher, Interim President & CEO, United Way of Greater Mercer County
Prior to being the interim president and CEO of United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC), Sandra held the position of vice president of Resource Development, the lead strategist for cultivating revenue streams.
She has over 15 years’ experience in fundraising, strategic partnerships, and marketing. Prior to joining UWGMC, she served as director of development for an educational nonprofit in New York City, Youth Communication Inc. Sandra has held a number of senior positions at local and national organizations including Special Olympics and Twenty-First Century Foundation.
Among the professional and community organizations in which she is now active are the Association of Fundraising Professionals and The New York Women’s Foundation.
